The 100% home record has gone but a point is better than nothing.

Poor game, fabulous pitch.
AND.

Well we never really clicked tonight so we’ll take a point I suppose. Stocksbridge are no mugs and they could have won, we could have won…it looked a terrible injury to Anthony Brown I hope it’s not as bad as it looked and that he’s OK!

The injury to Anthony Brown looked very bad, but the good news is that he maybe back in 10-14 days.

An off night for us. Despite a lot of effort we couldn’t find that quality in the final third that has seen us find the back of the net in previous games. That said, we need to put this into context. Its late October and we have just dropped our first home point of the season. We also need to give credit to SPS for their performance.

I think the fact that the sps players cheered at the final whistle tells you that teams are showing Witton some respect.
I don’t recall a team celebrating a goalless draw against us?!

Well I thought in the conditions it was a good game to watch with plenty of action and chances but our quality was way down on current form, too many players gave the ball away cheaply, too many forward passes over hit and the best chances we had fell to Owen 3 and Noone 2 who both made a hash of them. Could not understand leaving Bauress out he adds energy and a left sided goal threat we missed, the diamond formation did not work well we looked to narrow in this game and Bauress adds width in this formation. Not a great night to hear Reeves has gone back and Brown injured early our squad is stretched to the limits now we need a couple of signings at least to keep the team competitive in the push for the league. Dont think we had much luck tonight the ball never fell right despite us having a lot of possession and we could have had one penalty for a foul on Hopley and we also suffered at least 2crucial bad decisions from the ref/liner denying us one on one chances.
SPS were not a bad side but we helped them a lot on the night, and what a time wasting winging team they are, the keeper started time wasting after about 5 minutes and the Ref did little to help the situation overall not a great night but these nights will happen and as one fan said - last year we would have lost that game ! UTA

Walking to my car when a huge cheer went up, thought I’d missed a Goal …no just SPS players celebrating a huge away point for them. disappointing night for us really, but you do get them sort of games each season, never really clicked tonight and seemed to lack some calmness in front of goal. However at the end of the season it may count as the point that clinches promotion  . We know this team can play, so onward to saturday and put tonights game into the “just one of those days category” hopefully the real Witton Albion turn up. UTA

For the record, Bauress got an injury and limped off the artificial surface on Saturday. Seem to recall several other players were left with injuries when attempting to play on the plastic at Romulus earlier in the season. Nuff said!!!

Cheers Chad, strange he was named on the bench ! I hope both Bauress and Brown are fit soon. UTA

I think sometimes we just have to accept the management team’s judgement on the players selected and accept that there may be extenuating circumstances as to why they have selected or not selected a particular player as the case may be.

I think also we shouldn’t underestimate the impact on the team of seeing a team mate carried off.

Overall I think SPS deserved their point and the cheer at the end shows how much they put into the game. Yes they wasted time and slowed it down, but their keeper made some excellent as well as grabbing some lucky rebounds and overall they worked tremendously hard to frustrate us as well as creating some good attacking moves of their own.

Lets move on to Saturday and we go again.
