careful eli, or you will have them fishyfolk from the borough of blackpool back on here.
mr rabbit, ge as not mentioned the chron so why include it in your post, my oppion the chron as got it spot on with reporting all sports in out area. not like the guardian. far too bias for me.

Something tells me to steer clear of the Cheshire FM phone-in this friday though… ;)[/quote]
I don’t believe that the coverage is/was “somewhat typical”, hence the response!

Toneee, have you read my post? My inclusion of the Chronicle was only to praise them!!! If you believe the Guardian is biased then you entitled to your opinion, the fact I think that statement is factually incorrect is my opinion!
I think we should be a little more grateful to Messers Simpson and Buckley for their support rather than knocking them!
nobody as knocked mr buckley for is reporting of witton. (fact)

This is a pretty defamatory comment with regards to Chronicle in my opinion. The point Toneee is that we will not always like what the press have to write about us but we can’t pick and choose what they print. With regards to the Supporter’s Charity Football Match, Kids for Free vouchers, always carrying the club’s press releases (that Neil and I have issued), we have received better support from the local printed media this season than we have in many seasons before.
By all means let’s continue to criticise them - then of course we’ll all be moaning when the coverage reduces again in the future!!!
I am not sure we are disagreeing over the Chronicle’s coverage, however you are entitled to your opinion regards the Guardian, I just think you’re wrong!

‘Typical’ as in the fact that for alot of last year we couldn’t buy a column inch, yet the one week we’d probably rather not find ourselves on the back-page then there we are!! I don’t read that as a criticism, more a ‘sod’s law’ type observation. I don’t criticise my toast for falling on the floor buttered-side-down, it just happens - typical!! I’m running late for work and i get stuck behind a tractor - typical!! I’m not criticising that tractor, afterall farmers need to get from one place to the next just like the rest of us, but isn’t it just typical!!!
And in regards to the Chronical, i think most Wittoners would agree they have always given decent coverage. BUT it is a valid question; when is the last time that they SOLD a paper!!
Hi everyone, I thought it was the right time I joined the forum. It is my responsibility to take the criticism for last Monday’s performance fully on the chin and quite rightly so. I appreciate your thoughts and value your opinion as you are the people who care about our club. The anger and frustration shown by certain supporters at the end of the game was justified, the passion shown was a reflection of what we all were thinking, so I don’t have a problem with it, its part of the job. I do try to listen to people after a game but it is a busy, emotional time and there are so many people to talk too with so little time, I will try to make more time available. We have improved the relationship with the local media and the coverage we get is good, but you have to take the rough with the smooth I’m afraid; it’s what’s sells papers. I cannot always get the messages across that I would like about how I and the players feel. I don’t think that medium is appropriate to discuss our club on matters like this. Interacting this way would allow me to answer any burning questions or discuss any issues as long as they are football related and within reason. If you feel you do not want me to join in, then I will understand and view from a far.
The comments that have been posted regarding Mondays game are completely justified and as a fan myself I would whole heartedly agree with. But that’s football, high lows and in betweens. We have over the past few seasons had more highs than lows and when you take the plaudits when everything is going to plan you have to take the criticism when it doesn’t.
The team selection was incorrect, the tactics were wrong, that’s a FACT as the score line reflects this. I still don’t and will probably never understand why all our players had an off day, usually six or seven players play to a good level and they pull the others through i.e. Marine away. But for every player to under perform? I bet you guys have analysed the game over and over in your mind to understand the reasons why this happened but the bottom line was we were second best on the day, Fleetwood were the better team and fully deserve the win. In my interviews after the game I did something I that I don’t usually do and that’s challenge a team. I challenged Fleetwood to win the games in hand and to see how good they really are. Now if they do this then they are worthy champions but to win eight games at this stage of the season, I would not place any money on it, would you? We are still in the driving seat, we know what we have to do and that’s get back to winning ways.
I hope this appraisal helps; the players need your encouragement at this crucial stage and let’s have no regrets at the end of the season.
Jim Vince
Well said Jim, I’m sure everyone’s 100% behind you. You’ve done a brilliant job.
I wouldn’t swap places with Fleetwood, I’m sure their manager would rather be in Witton’s current position than Fleetwood’s. We just have to get on with what we have shown we are good at, playing football and winning games.
Great post Jim, roll on Saturday!
Cheers Jim, your honesty is much appreciated.
Jim I think its brilliant that you’ve posted on here. I would not blame you for not being too reticient after a match whether we win draw or lose it as the adrenilen is still flowing. However I do enjoy our little five minute chats in the club after games and sometimes I like to talk about you and how you are feeling especially with your Achilles injury and things. I let you down on Monday after the match by not going in the club and supporting you. Unfortunately my son had travelled up from Oxford for the day and needed to get back quickly so we couldn’t linger after the match you can appreciate driving down the M6/M40 on a Bank holiday Monday is not recommended!
The big thing for me is that you’ve accepted that the team selection was slightly wrong for Monday. I would agree and have already said that playing two up front seems to be better for us. It seemed on Monday that several players were not sure of where they were playing but enough said. The big thing is we all make mistakes and this is not a disaster as we still have 15 points to play for. If Fleetwood win every game they deserve to go up but I think thats a big ask.
Good to see your thinking positive and I’m sure you will be getting this over to the players for Saturday. As far as I’m concerned your still the best manager Witton could have with only Liam Watson at Burscough anywhere near you in terms of being a good manager. I, and I know the vast majority of Witton fans would want you at Witton regardless of what happens this season but we are going up anyway!! I want to thank you for giving us so many highs and not very many lows. I’ll see you in the club after the game on Saturday as usual and I’ll buy you a lucozade or whatever that coloured tipple is that you drink!! Cheers mate head up, keep positive, and lets go for 3 points Saturday!!
The fact that we are having this conversation at all shows how much we have moved forward.
The job done by the management and the team has been, and I have no doubt will continue to be, exceptional
As Jim says we want to end this season without regrets - so everybody onwards and upwards as one!
Jim has never hidden away from any discussion with fans and the media, and is more than willing to discuss his feelings on the outcome of a game, much to his credit. Nigel is the same, I spoke with him for 10 minutes after Monday and his feedback on the game was very honest. It was communicated in such a manner that you can understand the intelligence of our coaching staff, who see much deeper into the performances than we do.
My only comment in regards to this is that both Jim and Nige have earned the right to make the decisions they see fit and to play the game their way. The have done a tremendous job over the past two years and do not need to justify themselves. The club has appointed Jim to do a job and I think the entire fan base can only be happy with that performance. One bad game does not make us a bad team nor Jim a bad manager!
I think we got it wrong tactically on Monday but it is Jim’s opinion that counts. He is the gaffer and we put him in the position to make those decisions. I would not want him to feel that he has to post on here to justify his decisions.
The most important factor in my eyes is that the fans, the players and the management put Monday behind them. They should play with confidence, belief in their ability and pride in their achievement. We should play to enjoy it (if we are anxious, panic or have any doubt then it crumbles). When we play at our best then no one in this league can live with us - that is what Jim, Nige and the players have achieved. Let them get on with it!!!
Thanks Jim.
Yep,
Cheers Gaffer.
WHO NEEDS MOURINHO WE GOT JIM VINCIO !!!:cheer:
Still think we’ll win the league even after the result on Monday. We should, hopefully, win our last 5 games which means Fleetwood would have to win all 8 of theirs. If they did that they would have won 13 and drawn 1 of their last 14 games of the season so you could say they’d deserve it if they had put a run like that together, but if we win saturday and they only draw with Guiseley, which is a quite likely outcome,we’re the favourites again.
Many thanks “Gaffer” for your forthright views, although any real Wittoner knew all ready how you felt. Cos it mirrored all ours. nevertheless the very fact you’ve posted means a great deal I’m sure to all of us.
