Get in!! Telford on saturday at home! Lets show them what we have been about all season! I shall be there to cheer on the mighty albion lets get as many wittoners there as possible! Come on Witton!
Well done to Jim and the players.
Not easy picking yourself up after Saturday.
Admirable the way Jim conducts himself on the touchline - worthy of comment. Discussion with the players not shouting, even when it’s tight.

Fantastic stuff boys… everything crossed for the final now we can do this!!!
And another big payday for the club - fantastic.
Forget the money, i’d give everything i have to see us promoted after the season we’ve had. Any ideas whats happening about the social club on Saturday now???!!! Could be an interesting little wedding now ???
Will be interesting what they do as regards segregation! Dont think it will be unlikely if we are given the lostock end because telford will bring so many fans! Lets hope the right decision is made and everyone is happy! Cant wait til saturday now! i think ill get there bout 2 to make sure i get in! haha Come on Witton! [br]Posted on: 01-05-2007, 22:41:45
they want it to be all ticket! screw that! get there early or suffer the consequences init! Come on Witton!
Tonight was by far the best performance by Telford for 5-6 months! From the start they played quality passing football, created plenty of space and absolutely battered Marine for the entire game. The manager made a number of changes and I don’t think there’ll be anyone over here that would complain if he sticks to the same eleven on Saturday. If we had lost this match it would have been criminal, however the 2 penalty decisions were questionable and probably not correct. But! that’s football and I’m sure Marine would have taken the score had the situation been reversed and I’m sure they will also admit that we comprehensively played them off the pitch. On tonight’s performance alone be very afraid!
Was a fantastic night tonight, with plenty of chants going on at Witton, one especially sticks in my mind - the red army one that lasted about 5,10 mins or so. lets hope we get a win against Telford, and that would not only make my day, but it would also make my YEAR!! come on witton! Some good stuff tonight
John Kennedy made at least four World Class saves tonight. To be honest we were lucky , but given that we had four first teamers out and a further two left the field during the game it was great performance to "Dig Out" this win for the fans. Will it be at Witton? We could fill Crewe Alex with this one. We will have to give the Wincham end to Telford and make the game all ticket, to do anything else will be asking for trouble. Just think, around 3,000 or more there brings in nearly £25,000, not a bad little pot for Jim to use on the squad for next season in the Northern Conference.
I hope we get Barras, Connors, Peers and Spearitt back for Saturday, we will need them.
WHS.
Even with their best efforts at the end of the game, I don’t think the commentators quite made it out to be such as good a performance as you’re claiming. But, your opinion is just as valid as anyone else’s, and just adds to the conflicting noises coming away from the game. Someone (not sure if it was the commentator or one of the players, or the manager), said, and I quote, "the first half was poor". Who to believe? I think there is definitely a consensus that Marine did very little, though.
Both Telford and Witton have a master plan this season to get 99.9% of the way to promotion and then throw it away. Which one of them will bring their plan to fruition?!
There are two instances when I’ll be very afraid. One is if we get a penalty. The second is if we’re leading by one goal with 10 minutes to go, and it’s "sit back and try to keep the slender lead" time once again.
Never mind Telford, has nobody got anything to say about Witton tonight?
Thought we started well tonight, got one goal (great header from Kearney!!) and had another disallowed for dubious reasons, then conceded one from a real screamer, looked like an unstoppable shot. Back in front, thanks to Chris Gaghan - then it all seemed to go wrong, Matlock dominated most of the rest of normal time, their equaliser seemed inevitable, and we had JK to thank for keeping us in it. Thought the turning point came when Mark Jones came on - he had a great game. Wasn’t too optimistic when extra time started, but we started to play some football, and took control of the game. How pleased was Mike Moseley when his goal went in? Nice one, Mike! Then Adam Warlow sealed the win just before half time. I expected the second half of extra time to last an eternity, but it went really quickly, and we never seemed to be seriously threatened. Great to see the way the team stood up to be counted in extra time, tremendous effort! And good support as well, the 12" mix of Red Army was brilliant!
Now … bring on the Telford! Come on lads, one last push now, you can do it!
"…Just think, around 3,000 or more there brings in nearly £25,000, not a bad little pot for Jim to use on the squad for next season in the Northern Conference."
remember the "pot" is is split three ways, with AFCTU & the Unibond getting the other thirds. I am not sure but the split is before expenses and I think you actually get a pittance for the Stewarding…
dont know why hes been out of favour lately but super mike must be worth a start on sat. also if anyone is in the know (maybe G E) could you keep us posted on the fitness of players, didnt know peers was injured for the game tonight. ;D
Well what a night that was - tremendous scenes at the end of the game and that Red Army is still echoing in my mind!
Without wishing to bring Telford into this too much - just a week ago they were celebrating like they had won it. Twice this season we have played an hour with 10men and to be fair run them very close. you would hope we have learned our lesson and its 3rd time lucky?
Not much to say bout the game - couple of decisions went both ways, Cleggs goal, warlows goal? JK’s saves, warlows miss? but I’m made up we have the chance to put the club back on the map!
finally all the best to matlock - I had an incredible amount of handshakes and congrats off their supporters after the match - I’d have been sat head in hands if we’d just gone out and our season was over.
PS see posting in general re the arrangements for Saturday’s match.
PPS without turning into a whinger on Saturday lets get behind our team rather than worringing about their fans etc - surely we want to see our club promoted more then a quick jibe at away fans? Nige & Jim mentioned how we lifted the team tonight - I doubt they’re lifted when we have a go at the away fans!
Onwards and upwards!

FANTASTIC TONIGHT !!! BRING ON SAT !!!
"" WE LOVE YOU WITTON WE DO "" !!!
I predicted before the game a draw until near the end with Mike Moseley scoring the winner - it was not far off the script!
Fantastic header to open the scoring from Kearney who went on to have probably his best game so far for Witton. One of the worst decisions I have ever seen denied us a quick second goal, you cannot be offside if you pick up a ball you have knocked passed the defender yourself (irrespective of if there is a player coming back from offside)! Matlock in fairness scored a good equaliser before Gaghan’s low drive (which the keeper may have felt he should save). 2-1 looked fair at half-time.
The longer the second half went on you felt a one goal lead would not be enough. Sure enough 10 minutes from time the equalise. We came close to winning it in normal time and their keeper did well a couple of times to keep us out.
Enter Super Michael Moseley, if there was one player who deserved to score the winner it was MM. Looping header into the top right hand corner, keeper’s fingers could not keep it out. Mike’s reaction summed up all the feelings! 3 minutes later and Warlow battled well to get the ball under control (although did autograph it whilst it was on the ground) and finish the tie.
Ref made a few silly bookings along the way, at times booking players for first offences and then other times ignoring the same. Linesman in the first half was shocking but he made up for it in extra time when he allowed Warlow’s goal to stand.
Impressed most by the fight the lads put up, Kearney was MOM but also Lloyd, Clegg, Pritch, Brownhill and JK were awesome. I would have liked a bit more from Warlow and Gaghan but you don’t really know what their fitness level is.
I saw nothing against Telford (again) last week to suggest we cannot beat them. I think this deserves to be 3rd time lucky! We need to keep 11 men on the pitch (I hope to God they send us a decent ref for this game). If you stop Telford’s quick runs around the back they have very little else, we need to give them no time on the ball in Midfield, they do not have the creativity that we do. It will be a game for taking your chances and for my money Moseley might once more complete the fairytale!
Gutted to be missing the game (Stag Do in Bratislava) but will be on the phone for 90 minutes Saturday afternoon.
Well done lads, one more game to cap a tremendous season.
RED ARMY
Bit nerve fraying towards the end last night but its never going to be anything else now.
Thought the team worked themselves into the ground…Kearney …another Witton legend in the making.
Great stuff from both sets of supporters, think we really gave them a lift in the second half, we seemed to suck the ball down to the lostock end…well done.
Roll on Saturday. ;D
Thought the Heather and Clegg chant was hilarious…even the players were laughing
I would like to say i was spot on ;D (happily) and Mike was outstanding when he came on. The way he grabbed me and squeezed the life out of me whilst screaming like an idiot at full time told me everything i need to know about the man and how much he loves this club.
Super, super Mike…
