Witton v Matlock

FANTASTIC GUTSY PERFORMANCE. Thought Matlock again proved that Burscough aside they are the toughest team in the league to beat.

Won’t comment individually but as a team - On and Off the pitch WE WON THE GAME ;D

Don’t believe the Telford hype - we will win on Saturday, because over the season we are the best team in the division and they can’t be that lucky against us again!

Last word for MM - Deserves every accolade that comes his way after the week he has had.

RED ARMY

To be fair to the Ref he talked to us in the Club after and admitted that the dissallowed offside goal was a complete cock up on his part. As he said with all due respect to Matlock the better team won in the end. Like everyone else though all the best to Matlock and hope to see you in the Conf North the season after next! Nice fans and a good team!!
For all those who were debating about throwing in Kearney I hope everyone now realises that this lad is something special. He has strength, he’s tall, he’s quite quick and for a young player he reads the game well. I think if he’d played against Grantham we might have got all 3 points but who knows!! Quite simply he was awesome last night and reminded me of Chris Nicholl when he played for us at nineteen. Don’t want to detract from the rest of the team who were all heroes but would like to mention Mark Jones. Been out for most of the season and comes in and gives a confident and sure footed performance that ensured we did not get carried away like headless chickens in the midfield area. Well done Mark!. But well done to all the lads especially those playing with injuries and taking a chance like Griff and Cleggy who stayed on even though he was limping.
Fantastic season ours is a great club, hope we get something sorted about the wedding.!! Above all on Saturday to our lads lets make sure we keep 11 men on the field whatever the provocation. With 11 men we might just stand a chance of winning. Lets keep in perspective the achievement this season. We have one of the lowest budgets in the league yet we are right up there with the best!! Fantastic Jim, the lads the board all deserve a pat on the back, but also its us the fans as well as we’ve helped financially and vocally. Lets stick together and push our lads on to promtion Saturday!!

Mona, agree completely with everything in your post, with one exception.

You can’t be ‘fair to the ref’, the ref and linesman were in great positions to make that decision. They could have even talked with one another about it, neither of the displayed any confidence in making what was a blatant bad decision. The linesman put his flag up then put it down, then the ref blew so the linesman thought he best put his flag up again!

OK, we got the result we deserved over 90 minutes but what if we had not? Going 2-0 up at that stage would have made it very different, as it was Matlock went almost straight down the pitch and equalised! The decision they made could have been costly.

When Warlow handled the ball on the ground (for our 4th) you almost felt the ref was giving it to even things up - you cannot referee a game a football so important in that manner. Plus once he started showing the yellow cards he had nowhere to go, he had to keep booking players to keep some sort of balance!

The best team won but that decision could have had a massive impact on the result!

The referee was very candid about the decision when i spoke to him last night, and was in general a really nice bloke. He went to great lengths to explain the decision and what led him to get it wrong. The main issue was the fact that in his opinion he reacted too quickly to the linesman’s flag and blew up, and not the fact that the linesman got it wrong in the first place. THEN Cleggy put it in the net. He said that both sets of players had stopped due to him blowing so he had to give the freekick.
I made the point that if he knew the decision was incorrect then he should have given a drop ball, and he admitted that I had a point about that.

Genuine mistake, no harm done.

I am pleased he admitted the mistake as many refs refuse to do so after the event and that is to his credit. I just wonder whether we would be as happy to accept it if say it was the goal that denied the club promotion? Fortunately more and more in the Premiership refs wait to see ‘what happens next’ and give themselves that extra second or so to make a decision which they have considered more. Blowing up the way he did cost us a goal!

Cracking night last night, team played well and support again was fantastic!

Each and every player gave it their all and i was so chuffed for MM what a goal you deserve it!

Cant wait for Saturday, get behind the lads and sing your hearts out.

COME ON WITERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!

Can`t make the game :frowning: Got to go and draw some funny faces again ! Man I WISH I COULD BE AT THE GAME !
Give em a shout from me  Does anyone know if the game is on Radio Shropshire ?

First of all a huge pat on the back to the players, manager and club officials for a superb season, the fans can take credit too, they’re tremendous.
Saturday will be awesome and I’m absolutely devastated I can’t make it, taking ‘her indoors’ to Rome for her birthday, just hope there will be regular updates !!!
Wish everyone at the club best of luck for the game, don’t let them provoke another player into getting a red !
Thanks again for a great season, now go and win what you deserve.
UP THE ALBION !!!

Good game last night, was a bit worried towards the end of normal time but extra time was brilliant, great atmosphere!
There seems to be a few on here mentioning they cant go for some reason or another on Saturday, well me too,i go to Ibiza on Friday but Im sure we wont affect the attendance that much, reckon could be easy 3500+,think thats about the capacity so should be rammed! Bit embaressing tho bout giving Telford the home end,but suppose its sensible! Gutted cant be there.

Is it all ticket? I think it should be.
WHS.

Making it an all ticket match would eb a bit unrealistic surely? How on earth are you going to print a distribute tickets in 4 days?

To Wincham Rabbitt - I accept what you say about the Ref. I think all I was trying to say was at least he had the courage to come in the club after and admit his mistake. Had the Ref the previous Tuesday give the blatent hand ball he saw in Telford’s penalty area we may well have gone up Saturday after drawing with them. The Ref on Saturday should also have awarded a pen for the foul on Alex Brown I guess its all ifs or buts. The one thing I do know though is that our lads need to be a little more cunning on Saturday as their players will be up to their usual provocation type tactics and their crowd is a little intimidating. Lets hope we get a decent REF for once and also lets be wise to all this, play our more fluent football, fans make a big noise and I think we could and will win!!
