We need to go into this game with a very positive mood/attitude. I spoke to most of the players as they left pitch on Saturday, and also in the club house, and to a man they are gutted. I know most of us fans are also gutted, but it doesn’t help if people walk around the club demanding an enquiry into why the players didn’t try! It would be very easy for us all to feel sorry for ourselves and blame the players for our demise, but to be honest the looks on our players faces after the game showed it all.
What we need to do is try and lift our players, the management team, and more importantly ourselves. Its hard to find any positives after todays result, but find them we must.
The main reason for this post, is that we must remember that some of the management team, and some of the players have become fans in their own right of this club, and as such visit this website as guests.
Therfore, if you have any negative vibes about todays game (and I’m not stupid to think that there arn’t some around), can you please subdue them until we give our players, our management team, and our supporters the chance to put things right against Buxton, and also next Saturday against Gateshead or Eastood Town!
Its hard to support when you’ve just had the stuffing knocked out of you, but support we must for the benefit of this club.
IF you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on Jim,
If you can trust Witton when all men doubt them,
But make allowance for their doubting him;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
And yet don’t play too good, nor pass too wise:
If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your season to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:
If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on hook-turn or Mark Peers cross,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so sing on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: ‘Come On!’
If you can sing with crowds and keep your virtue,
’ Or walk with Pritch - nor lose the common touch,
if neither Vics nor Fleetwood Town can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Play Offs and everything that’s in it,
And - which is more - you’ll be a Witton Fan, my son!
Its not easy being positive when you spent a pile of cash going to Ferriby and then watching a non-event on Saturday. Add that to the years of disappointment and I think we have a right to air our views as we have to sit/stand through it! Plus if this is supposed to be such a good side where was the evidence from the last 2 matches when it was needed? Maybe the players need to pull their fingers out and I am not bothered who comes on here and calls me all the names under the sun for saying it. Take some responsibility for what’s going on on the pitch from the start of the match on Tuesday night.
That said I will be there on Tuesday night, I cant take another defeat though. Come on lads! It means a lot to the fans.
Why bother being there on Tuesday night?
Why not stay home and be a miserable tosser there?
If we lose you won’t be out of pocket and when we win you won’t be around to cloud the true supporters joy by expecting us to lose on Saturday.
Ok its time to lead by example and get everyone fully behind our team. The players know they played poorly on Saturday but they aim to put it right on Tuesday. I will be stood there on Tuesday with Nigel encouraging our players and we need you to do the same. I know you are all disappointed and no one more than me but this is the time not to feel sorry for ourselves but to stand up and be counted. We have a massive game to win on Tuesday against a strong Buxton team, are you up for it, I am…
This ship is still very much sailing, make sure you’re on board, destination Blue Square North. No need man the lifeboats just yet!!!
Any one that wants to bail out and head for dry land should take the opportunity now, there may be further storms ahead and we can’t carry an passengers!
All hands on deck!
We hear ya Captain Vince, good to know there’s still plenty of wind in the sails!
(Not sure why all the nautical references, the season has affected me more than I thought)!!!
Can only imagine what you’re all going thru in the lead up to tuesday. You now have a second chance, view it as is, a season defining semi-final, be positive, you’re at home and BELIEVE it can be done, we did. Adopt some of our belief that you WILL NOT lose. Best of luck tomorrow.
