Any chance it’s on?
It’s been sunny and 5 degrees in Sandbach today
Pete’s just been on and with the pitch still remaining hard and given the overnight forecast there will be a pitch inspection at 9am tomorrow.
Please note if the tie is postponed it has already been re-scheduled by the league for Tuesday evening.
The weather forecast for Mid-Cheshire tonight is -5 and 1 for tomorrow - see u all on Tuesday
Thanks for the cheering news:(
Will be supporting the boys from Glasgow then.
That’s a thaw point.
Well we did’nt get the expected weather and the grass and ground in DAVENHAM is soft and playable so is it GAME ON ?
Following this morning’s pitch inspection I’m afraid due to the very hard condition of large areas of the pitch today’s cup-tie has been postponed and will now, hopefuly, be played on Tuesday evening.
Useless Bl**dy groundstaff:S
‘Just William’ is not your nome de plume by any chance,eh WHS ??

Anyone got any news on the pitch?
According to the Marine FC website, there is to be a pitch inspection at Wincham Park at 2 p.m. this afternoon.
there will be a pitch inspection at 2pm
to add to the frozen state of the pitch, sections of the terracing are now covered in frozen snow.
guess its going to be emmerdale, then eastenders tonight.
game OFF due to frozen pitch and frozen snow on the terracing.
trying to get the game on for this coming thursday.
Thanks Toneee for the update, not a great shock given the arctic conditions.
To play this on Thursday would be ridiculous in my opinion. It is less than 48 hours before another home game against a side that is one point and two places above us, which if we beat would take us off the bottom (and should results go for us maybe even out of the bottom four)!
Why work so hard to get a cup game of such small consequence into the schedule on a Thursday night so close to one of the most important games of the season? It would almost inevitably set a new low crowd record if played on Thursday night! My guess is that this will not take place anyway given the weather but to even consider playing it on Thursday is daft. It’s OK for Marine, they appear not to have a game on Saturday.
Agree with Rabbit, this competition is pointless to us anyway at the moment.Survival in this league is all that matters this season now. After Cammell Laird in previous round we had EIGHT injuries going into the game with Bradford which resulted in a 4-1 defeat. Arguably our strongest defender limped off after 5 minutes because of an injury sustained in the Lairds game I dont know about the rest of you but if I could have took a win from one of those games it would defo have been the Bradford game. Lairds could have done us 7-0 for all i cared. Saturday is the biggest game of the season so far. 3 points is not only realistic but also a MUST. Dont gamble them by playing a Mickey Mouse game 48 hours before hand, because it WILL cost us. Play Marine tuesday gives us good opportunity for us to see what they are about this season right before we play them when it matters, in the league!

I’m not 100% sure, but i expect like the County Cups the League Cup will take presedence over league fixtures. If we don’t play it Thursday i expect that it would be played Saturday and our league game v Matlock would be moved.
As it is, with not playing for a couple of weeks now, it may do the lads good to have a run out on Thursday before the crunch fixture against Matlock (we don’t have to play our strongest XI afterall).
Not ideal to play Thursday and then again on Saturday, but can’t really be helped.
Personally, i expect we’ll be no nearer to being able to play the game on Thursday than we are today.
I have actually been off work last couple of days ill

I have just seen on our website that match HAS been moved to Thursday. Matlock will love that.
Boy, do we specialise in giving points away!

Of course it has been moved to Thursday, we have no choice in the matter.
If you don’t like the rules that we have to follow, then perhaps write to the League in that oh-so-eloquent fashion you frequently use on here
On second thoughts…
To Vi8. I cannot confirm or deny your assertion that I may be “Just William.” However I can confirm he is a doddering old man, fat bald and blind whose only saving grace is despite not being particularly keen on football is a committed Wittoner. Needless to say he will, at some point, get in some good stuff about the Albs though it may take a month or two before he does as he needs to convince the Chron of his value to them. A few letters praising his articles will help confirm his position.
