Not many Wittoners support the ground share.
Perhaps not, but I would never support a merged Witton/Vics/1874 team and I don’t know any Wittoners that would.
I’m not sure it’s true that “most Wittoners don’t support the groundshare” True maybe that most Wittoners don’t really want it including me but the board have decided we need to consider it for economical and developmental reasons so given that then I think most Wittoners reluctantly accept the deal, any talk of merger is nonsense they have nothing to bargain/merge with. In the end when the source of finance at Vics dries up they will fold and we will be left with the spin off club to deal with whether we ever offer them a groundshare in that event again is another issue.
Exactly. Do I want to ground share with V*cs? No, not really. Do I want to ground share if it prolongs the life of WAFC and gives us the opportunity to build for a better future? Yes.
I am totally against this ground share. It is yet another issue which will split the fans, as if we had not had enough splits in the last 2 or 3 years. It is madness to agree to this. The repercussions could be far reaching for Witton. We do not need this extra baggage to split the Witton fan base. Please Mr Harris reconsider the results this decision could have on the once proud Witton Albion.
Totally agree with AF this isn’t what we want! MH is this purley your decision who else on the board voted for this? Put it to share holders!
I do.
I do.[/quote]
I do too!
as do most other Wittoners ive spoke too
Spot on CJ - I agree with everything you say! For a change
As for the dissenters to ground share, be careful please. The board of directors have been elected to run the business of WAFC Ltd. I have total faith that they only have the interests of the club at heart and is fair to say that without the income from groundshare the future for our beloved club looks bleak. I suggest you get yourselves down to the fans forum and ask the questions there rather than rant on here.
Personally I don’t like the idea of a groundshare but I’m sensible enough to understand the ramifications if we don’t. Where are the revenue streams going to come from, to not even move forward but just maintain the current level?
Don’t let us fragment on this issue! UTA!
At the end of the day it doesn’t matter who’s for and who’s against the groundshare. It’s down to the board to do what they think is best for the club and we have to respect that and put our trust in them.
All we can do as fans is keep turning up to the games and cheer the team on.
UTA
Do i blindly support a groundshare - no.
Do i support the club in looking for new revenue streams - yes.
If we as supporters do not like the one they are presenting then we need to offer alternatives.
I’m sure the board are open to suggestions.
Company boards are like Governments, ultimately you get the ones you vote for and deserve, and it is thankless (I’ve been there x 2 and done virtually every job at the Football Club over the last 35 years, but not so much in the last couple - so no lectures about not volunteering or understanding please)
Robbo’s half right BUT 3 years is too long and lazy imo, it should be long enough to see us off, permanently ground share or for the council to find land for the town team to play on. Either way we’ve given our oldest and biggest rival/competitor a route to market and that as a long term strategy is commercial suicide.
Agree with Andy. Too long. We have given them exactly what they want and couldn’t achieve on their own, to be able to play in Northwich.
Due to the sensitive issue of Witton and Northwich I feel it would have been nice for the board to have discussed the matter with the people who ultimately own the club, the shareholders.
It was only a few years ago we were told that there would never be a groundshare with Vics.
I do wonder if its a bit mischievous on our part to release this statement a week before playing 1874
Its certainly got under their fans skin as the 1874 forum is in danger of meltdown!
There certainly riled up ahead of the Derby so expect fireworks B)
I don’t think they are riled with us, but a bit upset that the fan owned club did not talk to the fans about the opportunity to come back into the town, Think I would be too if I had to watch my football at Winsford ? And I don’t see Vics as big rivals in the long term- that will eventually be 1874, as for talking to shareholders we have met before sharing and it was no issue, but the board said they would talk to the shareholders about any ground sale or merger so I think that’s good enough for me. Stick together all or we are helping the two teams in green and white SxxxE UTA
in the three years they are here the club cant get complacent. yes the money coming is very good but in three years time it will be gone so therefore new revenue streams must be in place when they leave to where ever they go. for the record i can see this groundshare being longer than three years. As for a merger between the clubs would be the end for me. I have no desire to stand side my side with anyone from the green side.
Well said Lutkie, I would hope with our prudent board that say if the money is say 20k per year that we split it 3 ways - playing budget/ ground and club upkeep or development / paying down debt that way we would end the 3 year period in a better position than now.
What an absolute and utter disgrace this is to the integrity of football. Those green and white scumbags never paid ONE SINGLE PENNY of a CVA then morphed from 2004 to 2007, the ground was lost and they then proceeded to cuckoo Flixton out of their home.
How can THEIR finances/business plan possibly work out paying us rent, how on earth can they be affording Jim Gannon and the squad they have on their crowds…WHERE IS THE MONEY COMING FROM??
This could kill our once proud little club off!
It’s a no from me.
Good questions Mauler. I suggest you get yourself along to the fans forum to get answers direct from those in charge and in the know.
It would be a mistake to think of any potential rent as all income.
The utility bills will double - how much does it cost to heat and light the stadium for a match, and staff it?
And how much credit do you give Vics?
Do you lock them out whenever an instalment is overdue? immediately, 30 days or until the end of the season?
Rushe has some very good lawyers.
It could end up costing Witton more, including legal fees.
