And who is responsible for all the poor signings???
Agreed, that’s a fair point, Johnno. All I would add is that the core of the team early in the season ( Harrison, Gardner, Titch, Danny etc) pre-date Sully, and that subsequent budgetary restrictions partly determine the quality of the signings. Pay Peanuts…etc. Sully inherited a team that crashed out of the FA Cup costing us (potentially) thousands and has been suffering through the shortcomings of others ever since. Yes, he takes a share of responsibility, but not all the blame. Yesterday may have been dire, but still better than results against Runcorn, Belper and some others I have chosen to forget.
Sullivan is useless and has been useless since he first came, he should go back to managing in the NWCL and if we stick with him that’s where he will take us. The chairman has a lot to answer for in all this, not just for appointing Sullivan but the way he orchestrated BP’s removal has a lot to be desired. Who ever thought that getting rid of a manager so early in the season would be a good idea??
The board did not get rid of Pritch that’s unfair He chose to resign because of personal issues.
Wait…what?
Let’s face it, we were a mess when Sullivan came in, we’re in a better position now that what we were when he came in.
As long as we stay up he’s done what he was brought in to do, then we can kick on next season.
I thought it was a board decision regarding Gardner? Now it’s a management one if he comes back? And we took advice from our solicitor… Good old Witton
Surely there must have been an element of provocation???these things don’t happen without a reason. We all know there is history between the two. Shaun Tuck was given a second chance surely Gards is worthy of the same. We need our passionate full back if we are to survive.

Classic Harris.
No Doubt if Gards does decide to apologise to the squad and work hard to get back into the first team fold Harris will then probably claim it was all his idea.
I did say it was the managers input that drove the board, don’t think he will come back The managers ego won’t allow it and Gards may not want to under him ! It’s also a mute point if we are any better under his tenure ? of all his many signings I personally only rate 2 of them to be really good enough for this level - John Shaw and Luke Clark - Fowler may be but not seen enough and if you analyse the squad now ( assuming you want a team to challenge not struggle ) we have no decent keeper, no full backs, 1 decent centre back, 2 decent midfielders and potentially 3 forwards and of them blow hot and cold and not a partnership in sight, so it’s hard to be that positive IMO which is why I’m unsure about the future under this manager, he has a lot of work to do still !
i feel mr harris is using being the chairman of wafc and the evostick league to work his way up the greasy fa ladder.as i’ve said previously all talk and no action, just a yes man to please everybody else.
Our chairman and family do an awful lot for our club giving many hours so I don’t think he is using the club in any way quite the opposite, I don’t think we have dealt with this well but that’s my opinion but overall our Chairman is a very good one all things considered.
He will need to prove his worth when next seasons tenant rides in to town, that’s for sure !
I think its a sad day when we start turning on Mark Harris,
He clearly only has Witton Albions best interest at heart and along with Andrea and Adam must live and breath Witton!
Did Mark make Gards threaten to fill in Sully? In any job if an employee threatened to beat up their boss they would be out the door, at least it appears the door is not yet slammed shut and i know Mark will be doing all he can to resolve the situation.
It would be great if for the next few weeks we all back the Chairman and Management and focus on supporting the club to get us out of the bottom 4, a win on Tues will probably lift us clear and with matches against Belper and Frickley coming up we could start pushing away!
UTA
Whatever has gone on does nothing for our club’s reputation and is very damaging. In our present situation, we need everyone to be pulling in the same direction if we are to overcome this. Issues have caused divisions in our club in the past and this must not get in the way of our main aim of staying in the league. We need players of Anthony Gardner’s spirit, passion and whole-heartedness if we are to survive, especially with such crucial games almost upon us but like our chairman says that will be the manager’s decision. We must all remember that the club is the important thing in the end not any individual within the club.
Why did Gards threaten violence upon the manager??? I am sure it will come out eventually but I cannot see Gards acting like that without provocation. I am hoping it can be sorted and quick as Gards will soon be snapped up and I don’t want to see that happen.
It’s a sad day when you resort to slagging off Mark Harris.
Mark Harris is a top bloke and a great chairman, we are very lucky to have him. End of discussion!!!
I’ve felt like Mark should step down since the fiasco over the 2013 summer so nothing new here from me. He’s done nothing in that time to change my opinion of him.
I think the wrath towards Mark Harris is unfair & really masks the frustration of Witton fans at the current squad and at this & last season’s appalling football, leaving us again with the potential of relegation to the Division 1 abyss.
Only last Thursday @ the AGM Mark was quite rightly applauded by the shareholders present for his continued relentless work for WAFC. The problem for Mark is that he has a weak board. Aside from Vice Chairman Reg Hardingham (who, bless him, is the wrong side of 50) & Paul Worthington (who lives too far away from here) we have no-one as Directors who can make Witton any better.
I would worry for the future of WAFC should we lose Mark (& family), not only for his (their) dedication to the task but, you only need to look over to where a football ground used to be, to see what any potential replacement might do. Yes, Mark is the Chairman of the NPL & may want to be on the FA - good luck to him. He’s worked bloody hard here and at Altrincham FC beforehand and deserves to sit in higher positions in football if that is his goal.
We have Associate Directors, who in Jim Powell & Andy Lomas (accompanied by Finance wizard Neil Wilson) can only support so much and I’m sure are getting well p’d off with their efforts not matched by the players they’re trying to support. We have, I believe, added to this with various people who have joined as Associate Directors and, whilst I hope they do a good job for Witton, they are NOT Wittoners.
I do feel Mark should be bold with the current Manager, as I don’t think Mr Sullivan is up to the task and, as I posted yesterday, other clubs around us have changed the managers and this has paid dividends. I know there’s no guarantee but what is there to lose? Answer: Our position in the Premier Division & the loss of opportunity next season with increased income, playing in Division One.
All that & City lost.

I love and appreciate all he does behind the scenes and non-football related issues, I’m more concerned how he handles football related matters.
All I’ve seen on the foum over the past week is how Sully isn’t cut out for this level, pretty sure everyone said the same about Sheehan during his run as manager. It appears to me everybody is giving the person who hires these so called “inexperienced” managers a free ride.
