Greenie - your backing for Nige is admirable, but it would really help Nige’s and the clubs cause if you actually attended a home game!!!
That way your £9 could help fund Nigel’s team.(I presume by the lack of a reply that you are unable to make a contribution to the Development Fund as pledged?!?)
Chad, you can suck my middle finger. I am as entitled to my opinion as anyone else. Very big of you to come on here and be a smart arse. Well done.
I apologise immensely for not being able to attend many games this season. In between starting a new job, organising a wedding, moving house this week and coping with a pregnant future Mrs Green I haven’t got the time at the moment. Clearly some people don’t think that putting these things before attending Witton games is acceptable and all I can do is apologise for being so disloyal.
I will still be making my pledge at some point, although right at this moment not surprisingly I don’t have many extra £500’s flying about the place!! Again I realise that my priorities are all wrong.
Thanks for the courtesy of a reply (at last) Thomas.
You are entitled to an opinion like everyone else - however to tell people to support Nige and the team is hypocritical in the extreme.
Noone is expected to attend every game- I can’t!(I could bore you with my own circumstances but won’t), however to not make it to one home game and then come on here telling everyone what they should and shouldnt be doing is ridiculous.
Mona your entitled to say that and i partially agree. Full credit to Nige on getting a team together over the summer he had a difficult task. I think he has found a few decent players too. But some team selections and in match substitutions have left me puzzled. I think we may need some1 with more experience to help him. Regardless of the summer, Nige is a manager, and he is expected to get results. And u can all ave a go at me 2, i dont give a s**t, i pay my money, ive been to every away (includin the 3hr to journey 2 gateshead, and unless u were there i suggest u dont have a go) and only missed 1 home, so i have my opinion.
MONA - your assessment based on the 2 games u have seen is pretty accurate and u may well turn out to proved correct in what u say, but I am afraid u have dropped back into a doom and gloom syndrome. What this club needs right now is for every Wittoner to do his best to support it in a positive manner whenever possible where persomal situations allow.
The acting Chairman and his board members will when the time is right do what is best for this club and until then everybody should be allowed to get on with their jobs knowing that they have the backing of each and everyone of us. I have nothing against fans discussing players ,managers and the like on the terraces and in the bars, that’s part of football and what makes it such a great game.
Look, managers make wrong decisions, Jv did in 1 game last year and it cost us the league! Im not saying Nigel is perfect in anyway, but I really feel he is being let down by everybody who is calling for his head. Starting a team from scratch is not exactly an easy task, the way to move forward is by hard work and dedication etc. I see plenty from Nigel, so im generally not worried there.
On the playing side, There were, in my opinion around 7 or 8 players last night who are not good enough, the problem is, we cannot just go out and change 7 or 8 players. If we did all Nigels hard work over the summer will be undone. The way forward is releasing a couple and bringing in a couple that are better. I think he has done this when he released Gaghan and Coyne and brought in Burke and Thompson. It aint going to happen overnight but when you all start on the manager, just think how well he has done to get this many points so far…
Sorry Guys I appreciate your views about the being united and getting behind the team but its sentiment and that has no place in football or indeed business as can be seen by the current economic situation. I can accept that people will make mistakes or just simply not be good enough but when you look at this team we have’nt even got the basics right with the prime thing being fitness. You can get results with hard work rate but there were 6 players out there either not putting the effort in or just not fit enough. It was the same on Saturday where we were overun by a fitter but not that much superior team.
I’d like to think it will get better but the harsh reality is it won’t otherwise the basics would have been right in the first place.
I admire your loyalty but its misplaced we must act now or face the possibility of being in the relegation zone and I’m not proposing that Nige steps down but concentrates on what he does best while we get someone in who Nige thinks he can work with to do the other things and give him the missing ingredients e.g support on discipline, organisation and contacts other than picking up ex Leigh players!!
OK you all think I live up to my name Moaner and you may be right and no doubt Eli,Robbo, Rabbit, young Chad, Neil and other people will lambast me on here. I have the upmost respect and admiration for your loyalty and committment but it has to be said! something is not working and it has to be fixed soon as.
My thoughts are that we need to get the basics right. We’re conceding too many goals, so we need to start by trying to rectify that. With Burke, Pritch, and Scott we’ve got 3 very experienced defenders - and we also have a good keeper. If we stop conceding so many goals then we might just start picking up points again!!!
We need somebody to kick butt and Nige is too much of a gentleman to do so.The assistant is even quieter who wouldn’t say ‘boo’ to a mouse.A new 2nd in command is now a must, somebody with cojones and a loud mouth not forgetting footie knowledge.
Everyone seems to be banging on about, managing this, coaching that, get Nige back coaching, could somebody tell me how many hours training a week the players do? If they play on a Tuesday they may have knocks and wont be risked in heavy or repetetive training on the Thursday.
We arent full time and only being able to coach a whole new team in a couple of hours per week is always going to be slow progress. I’m quite sure Nige would have loved to have had them on the training pitch today.
If any of the fans know how to do it better they should have applied for the job when JV went. Nige will do us a job and a good one and when his time is up I am sure the club will be in a better position than it was when he took over.
Have to agree about some players though, but their time will come and soon.
I really cannot believe some of the stuff being said on here. Last year I had a go at the team and I was lambasted, but that team was an expensive one and deserved some vitriol aimed at it at times. This team is brand new, and as someone pointed out, put together on the cheap, did anyone really expect instant results? As for relegation, Vics maybe on their way down, they have nowhere else to go, no manager and no money, but that is not the case with us. In six weeks time we maybe safely in mid table with any luck, and who knows, by Easter next year we might even be flirting with the play offs. But I am damned sure with just the players we have we will NOT be getting relegated, Mr. Deeley is too good a coach for that to happen. Time is all he needs, give it to him and he will get us where we want to go.

PS Neil, gave out twenty or so tickets today at school, more will go tomorrow once the news gets out. If only a fraction turn up over the coming weeks it will be a start.

I think both sides of the debate have some merit. On one hand, Nige has signed players such as Greg Smith, Thompson, Donnelly, Drew, Thaker, and Thompson, all of which will be good enough when we get a strong first 11. Add Pritch, Rod, and Ben to that and we’re starting to look ok.
On the other side of the debate, whilst the squad are still gelling and confidence is fragile, we simply cannot afford to carry ‘slackers’. This season we are going to have to put up with some players of less quality and as fans, as long as the effort is there then we can’t argue. But some of the effort from some players is non existent and we shouldn’t have to tolerate that.
I firmly believe that Nige is the right man for the job, he has the clubs best interests at heart and is a fantastic coach. There are changes that need to be made, and I’m sure that Nige is fully aware of what those changes are. In the mean time, as supporters, we just need to do what we do best… SUPPORT!
Well said Greg 7, Mr. Deeley is not blind, any slackers as you call them will soon be on their way I am sure. To be honest I have not really felt players were slacking, it is just they are not sure who is supposed to do what and that will only come with time.
